About Controls of Things

Controls of Things is a Southern California contractor specializing in building automation. We design, integrate, program, commission, and support the systems that run commercial and industrial facilities, and we hold the low-voltage and electrical licenses needed to self-perform the work those systems depend on.

What We Can Take On

Full BAS scope from basis of design through startup: system architecture, sequences of operation, points lists, specifications, programming, graphics, and commissioning. Multi-vendor and multi-protocol integration rather than single-line resale. Platform migrations off obsolete systems without losing sequences or trend history. Title 24 mechanical acceptance testing and closeout documentation. Work in complex and regulated environments, including laboratories, pharmaceutical validation, chiller plants, and critical facilities.

How We Work

Keep it simple. Building automation accumulates complexity: layers of overrides, workarounds, and half-finished upgrades that nobody documented. The most valuable thing a controls contractor can do is take complexity out of a building rather than add to it. Systems a facility team can actually operate, documented so the next person is not starting from nothing.

Engineering-Led

Sequences of operation, points lists, and system specifications are produced in house by a degreed electrical engineer rather than subcontracted out. What gets specified is what gets built, and the scope holds up once the project is underway.

CSLB License #1099818 — C-7 Low Voltage Systems and C-10 Electrical. Bonded through Tokio Marine HCC Surety Group. RSES-certified Mechanical Acceptance Testing Technician and registered Mechanical Acceptance Testing Employer, certification #2026023, current through June 2027.
